APPLYING PROCEDURES
1.
For schools of higher education in the Republic of Bulgaria may apply
foreign citizens, holding a document to certify that they have completed
their high school education and enabling them to study at schools of
higher education in the country where the high school education has been
acquired.
Foreign citizens may also apply
according to the conditions and the order established for enrollment of
Bulgarian citizens in the schools of higher education in the Republic of
Bulgaria if they:
1.
are of permanent sojourn in the Republic of Bulgaria.
2.
have a status of refugees.
3.
are of Bulgarian origin which is certified in accordance to the
Regulations of the Council of Ministers ¹
103 of 1993, concerning education among Bulgarians abroad.
DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR APPLICATION
Foreign citizens, applying for
students and due to pay fees for their education, have to hold the
following documents:
1. An
application form, containing short personal data as well as the school
of higher education and specialties in which they would like to be
educated, the form and duration of education (academic degree). In this
application form the candidates also declare their level of Bulgarian
language.
2. A
legal translation of their diploma of high school education (including
the curriculum and rating)
3. A
document issued by the officials which is to certify that the candidates
may continue their education at schools of higher education in the
country where the high school education has been acquired.
4. A
medical certificate issued one month before the date of application and
authenticated by the corresponding officials in the country in which the
person applies.

The diploma and medical certificate have to be legalized, translated
into Bulgarian and authenticated in compliance to the rules of the
international contracts between the Republic of Bulgaria and the country
in which they are issued, and where there are no such contracts – in
compliance to the general rules for legalization, translation and
authentication of documents. High school education diplomas issued by
schools abroad are legalized by The Ministry of Education and Science.
6. An
identification photocopied (passport). Candidates with double
citizenship certify their status by means of both documents of
identification (passports). If there are any differences in the
candidate’s names on the identifications, he/she has to enclose a
declaration for identity of names, legalized by a notary, or a
certificate issued by the municipality.
7.
Declaration for financial maintenance of the candidate-student during
the period of his/her study.
8. An
identification document photocopied with the candidate’s name, date and
place of birth in Roman alphabet.
9.
Four photographs. The college sends the documents of the candidates
approved of to The Ministry of Education and Science with a view to
conducting the procedure of issuing a visa for long term stay –
visa-type D, in accordance to the Regulations for conditions and order
for visa issuing passed by the Council of Ministers
¹97/2002.
Student’s status is acquired by the enrollment and lost by leaving the
school of higher education.
LANGUAGE AND SPECIAL PREPARATION OF THE
FOREIGNERS ADMITTED FOR EDUCATION IN THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA
Education is conducted according to educational documentation, covering
educational plan and curriculum. Students’ language training and special
knowledge training lasts not less than 9 months and is conducted in
groups with not more than 15 members. Students’ language training and
special knowledge training is accomplished by studying of compulsory
subjects, divided into two groups according to the programs as follows:
1.
for humanitarian subjects – Bulgarian language – 800 classes.
2.
for the rest of the subjects:
§
Bulgarian language – 650
classes.
§
special subjects – 350
classes.
Bulgarian language training is completed with an examination (written
and spoken), which is conducted by a committee.
Special training preparation is
completed with examinations in all subjects included in the educational
plan, which are conducted by a committee.
Students
successfully completed their language and special preparation acquire a
certificate (according to the model registered in The Ministry of
Education and Science) necessary for foreign students’ enrollment.
The fee paid for a
language course is 800 Euro.
Applicants having
good command on Bulgarian language may sit the exams without attending
the language preparation course (including special subjects
preparation).
EDUCATIONAL FEES
Foreign students pay
fees for their education, amounting to 1 800 Euro per academic year.
Students with double
citizenship, and if either of them is Bulgarian, pay half of the fee
fixed for foreigners when they apply and are admitted according to the
conditions and the order appointed for foreign citizens.
Students may pay
their fees in two equal installments at the beginning of each term.
The fees are paid in Euro or in Bulgarian leva of equal
worth, according to the rate of exchange appointed by The Bulgarian
National Bank. |
