Course Description
It is designed for advanced students who wish to continue their
developments in the sphere of translation and interpreting. This basic course
integrates theoretical fundamentals and practical aspects which may be tailored
with regards to a student’s request. This course totals 10 hours of tuition per
week and takes place on weekday mornings. Educational materials are supplied to
students and the focus is on specialized terminology and its usage in contextual
environment. Self-learning on the bases of specialized educational materials
plays a key role in the studies.

Tasks
The course tasks for this course are the following:
To give some
important ideas about the classification of the translations, inter language
and intercultural communications
to learn the
principal models of translations and interpreting transformations
to learn
major types of interpreting accordance and its use
In practice
to learn
initial text analysis, to determine purpose of the translation and its nature
to learn
major techniques and methods for gaining identity
to learn how
to arrange properly results of the translation in accordance with the original
materials
to learn
working with dictionaries and reference materials
to give
practical knowledge in the use of specialized PC software
Outcomes
On essential completion of the program, participants will gain
the following:
to make
preliminary analysis of the original materials
to read and
translate with minimum preparation written authentic materials
to
translate with the dictionary professional texts from English into Russian
and back
