| General Information
The Lomonosov Moscow State University is one of the major providers of training
for the professions associated with Biology. Faculty of Biology was founded in
1930 on the base of Biological Department of the Faculty of Physics and
Mathematics. Nowadays it is a large scientific and research centre comprising
all most important areas of modern Biology.
It incorporates 24 departments, 7 problem laboratories, more than 50 research
laboratories. The students of the Faculty have at their disposal 2 biological
field stations, one of them is located in Zvenigorod near Moscow and another on
the White Sea coast. Our students take practical courses in Zoological Muzeum
and Botanical Garden. We also maintain a satellite campus in the town of
Pushchino-na-Oke where the department of Physico-Chemical Biology and branch of
the Molecular Biology Department are set up.
The Faculty of Biology has a longstanding record in environmental science.
Specialist teaching divisions are led by active members of the Ecology,
Physiology, Anthropology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Microbiology recearch
groups. Our highly qualified teaching staff includes 12 members and 6
corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 50 professors and a
large number of tutors holding DSc degree in Biology.
