Pyatigorsk University, founded in 1939, is one of four major Linguistic Schools
in Russian Federation, rated as number 9 among 90 best schools of Liberal Arts
in the country. The study of major European languages (English, German, French
and Spanish) is the key element of most educational programs in Pyatigorsk; but
there is a rapidly increasing choice of majors in Psychology, Social Sciences,
Translation, Government and Public Administration. The majors in Business.
Administration and Public Relations was also launched in Fall 2001 to expand
PSLU's academic curriculum.Eight academic departments provide instructions to 3,500 full-time undergraduate
students enrolled on four and five year programs and leading to a BA and MA
degree. Over 1,500 more enjoy the opportunities of part-time and distant
learning. Among 460 faculty staff 30 are listed as Full Professors, while 237
hold PhD level qualifications. |
